HERILAND is a pan-European ITN (Innovative Training Network). Its major aim is to create a new generation of cultural heritage mediators. HERILAND is a unique collaboration of interdisciplinary specialists stationed at universities across Europe. HERILAND offers a training network to 15 PhD researchers, who look at heritage through the lens of five major themes, which correspond to major societal themes, such as sustainability, urbanization and the multicultural society. These themes correspond to work packages, which are clusters of 3 ESRs on each research topic. HERILAND sees societal challenges in a spatial perspective, with a specific focus on changing cultural heritage. We plan our future living environments by studying and learning from the past.
