Upcoming UNDRR Webinar: Disaster Forensic Investigations
The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) Global Education and Training Institute (GETI) is hosting a three-part online masterclass series titled Disaster Forensic Investigations: Uncovering Root Causes and Drivers of Disaster Risk and Disasters from 3–17 February 2026.
The series introduces approaches from FORIN (Forensic Investigations of Disasters), focusing on how disasters emerge from interacting social, environmental, economic, and governance factors.
The three live sessions will take place online on:
- 3 February 2026 — 15:00–16:30 (CET)
- 10 February 2026 — 15:00–16:30 (CET)
- 17 February 2026 — 15:00–16:30 (CET)
For IHOPE members, this series is particularly interesting because forensic disaster research closely aligns with IHOPE’s focus on risk dynamics, social-ecological systems, and learning from past events to better understand future risk pathways. The masterclasses emphasize connecting research, policy, and practice, and demonstrate how forensic investigations can reveal systemic risk drivers.
