ESEH 2025 Climate Histories Conference – Call for Papers
The European Society for Environmental History (ESEH) is pleased to invite proposals for its biennial conference, taking place in Uppsala, Sweden, August 18th – 22nd, 2025. The conference theme, Climate Histories, seeks to bridge historical research on climate variability with current lived experiences, fostering deeper discourse and offering new perspectives on contemporary climate change. Submissions are due by 31 October 2024, at 23:59 CEST.
In addition to papers, panels, posters, and roundtables, the 2025 ESEH Conference welcomes many unconventional submission types under its “Different World Sessions”. These “Different World Session” types include: History Cafes, Poetry Slams, Book Lounges, Public Debates, Artistic Interventions, and Skills Workshops. The aim is to spark innovative conversations about climate change, engaging not just academics but the wider public in meaningful and creative ways. We encourage imaginative proposals that push boundaries and inspire fresh dialogues relevant to the Climate Histories theme.
